How it works:

Breastmilk & DNA Keepsake Preservation

Crafting Memory Into Art

At Milk Maid by Momma, every keepsake we create starts with a powerful piece of your life — breastmilk, DNA, hair, ashes, or other personal elements — and is transformed into a handcrafted treasure. Here's a look into how we carefully and respectfully preserve your materials.

  1. Sanitizing & Pre-Treatment

Ensuring Safe, Long-Term Preservation

 When your breastmilk or DNA-based sample arrives, it is first cataloged and logged into our system to ensure nothing is lost or confused. We then begin the pre-treatment process:

  • Breastmilk: The milk is gently heat-treated to eliminate bacteria or spoilage organisms. It is then mixed with proprietary natural preservatives that stabilize it for long-term durability.

  • DNA Samples (Hair, Ashes, Cord, Placenta, etc.): These are gently cleaned and dehydrated if necessary. Hair is trimmed and aligned for aesthetic use, while ashes or placenta powder are sieved to a uniform texture.

This crucial step helps prevent discoloration, spoilage, or mold in your final keepsake — ensuring beauty and integrity for years to come.

2. Preservation & Curing

Stabilizing Your Materials for Longevity

Once cleaned and prepared, the material undergoes curing — a chemical process to lock in its color, texture, and safety. Each keepsake ingredient is:

  • Carefully dehydrated or freeze-dried (for milk or placenta);

  • Mixed with custom preservation agents;

  • Monitored during the curing phase (which can take several days) to ensure it sets properly.

This results in a stable, dry, and safe material ready to be encapsulated or molded into your chosen keepsake.

3. crafting your keepsake

From Essence to Art

Once the preserved material is ready, we begin the artistry phase. This is where science meets soul. Your material is blended into high-quality resin (or your selected medium) to create the final piece.
